<I'm curious as to how you are getting to Road's End in Kings Canyon.

<transportation to there.

Actually, getting to Roads End isn't that hard.  There is public transportation into Sequoia NP via a shuttle from Visalia.  Finding a hitch down to Roads End in Knigs Canyon NP from there, while it may take some time, should be very doable even though hitching in a NP isn't legal (but many of us have resorted to doing so to get back to our cars).
