Pete, Thanks for the information, I will see what I can do to make contact
at those locations as well, I have also been in contact with L-rod, and She
told me that she has had several such situations come up recently with
Hikers using the Spot and not being able to check in, I am hoping that is
again the case, and at some point soon they will be able to send a message
again to check in.
Thanks again for the info and I will definitely keep posting as I hear any
information.

Subject: Missing hikers...

Hi,

I hope that the missing hikers show up soon. It looks like they signaled
with their Spot device at the drinking fountain below the long hike from
Fuller Ridge. This is a natural resting point, and it makes sense that they
used the Spot here. This is on the trail at milepost 205.

Some places to chek at this point might be:

1. In the underpass below the I10 freeway is trail magic (a cooler with
dirnks, etc.) maintained by Reaper (PCT 2007). I don't have contact
information for him - I think he is from Rancho Mirage - but there may be a
register that hikers sign when they reach there. This is on the trail at
milepost 209.

2. Many hikers walk/hitch to the Cabazon Post Office for resupply. Again
there may be a register at the Post Office where hikers sign in. This is off
the trail.

3. There are a few restaurants near Cabazon. Some hikers go to the Palm
Springs area for a break. Some hikers go to the Morango casino which is
close by. These are areas that can be checked. These are all off the trail.

4. Another place with a register north of the I10 is the Mesa Wind Farm. The
office is a short distance from the trail and they are hiker friendly and
provide water to hikers. This is at approximately milepost 213.

These are some places to check. Please keep the PCT-L list notified of whats
goining on and if there is anything we can do to help. I hope they are
"found" soon!

Thanks,

Pete Hanson (Flop - PCT 2008)
