Thelma's deserves it's place as a must eat at establishment. The food is excellant and service very good to us hiker trash.
Big Bear Hostel is also an excellant deal. The first night is 20,second night 15,and third night 9 bucks. They have coin wash laundry,free phone calls to US and Canada. Kitchens, Canoes, Kayaks. And they are located right next to the Villiage in Big Bear Lake which sports the North Pole Candy Store.... OH MY GOD do they have chocolate of every description and the blessed ICE CREAM!
Equada outfitters is a super hiker friendly place and though it is small the owner can get anything you need and bent over backwards to help us.
The Marta Bus system is 1 buck and takes you between Big Bear Lake and City during the day effortlessly.
The locals are friendly and with one wave us hiker trash got a ride from Leigh in a 1972 Pinzgauser (Think Military troop carrier).... Incredible! Thanks Leigh!
