[pct-l] Section E report

I just did Section E from Agua Dulce to Hwy 58 3/10-15. It would have been better to wait another week or so for it to be a little warmer at night, but there was plenty of water, info on which is already in AsABat's wonderful water report. There were lots of flowers and singing birds, and lots of wonderful crunchy, juicy green miner's lettuce to eat on many of the hillsides. However, a woman who lives somewhere out the road toward Cottonwood Creek Bridge backed up her car to warn me of a pack of 5-6 feral dogs in the area. She said they seemed to be afraid of humans, but had attacked her chow dog the previous day. I camped at the bridge (no water there) on 3/13, didn't see or hear any animals.
When I got to Tehachapi, thanks to ride from a trail angel, I did go to the Ranc Motel (not "Ranch" as Patti said). While it was ok, a big issue for long-distance hikers could be that they don't provide washcloths! I explained to Kim, the proprietor, that I was so filthy I needed something to scrub myself with, and she finally gave me a hand towel from her house, which was awkward to use. Also no little bottles of shampoo, so if you don't have your own you'll need to wash your hair with bar soap.
Happy hiking, everybody!
Janet
