*PORTLAND, Ore. -- *A hiker died after falling 100 feet down an embankment
west of Cascade Locks on Monday night. Rhonda Casto, 23, had been walking
in the area when she fell off the edge of a steep hill. A companion who was
with Casto at the time called 911 for help, according to the Hood River
County Sheriff's Office. The trail in the area was wet and she was about
one mile from the trail's parking lot, according to deputies. he
investigation remains active, but deputies said it appears to be an
accident. Casto lived in Portland. Another woman died less than three
weeks ago on the same trail. Results from that autopsy are still pending.
