$100 to hold a package? That has to be the most expensive resupply fee of the PCT! It makes Muir Ranch sound like a deal!

Exit over Kearsarge Pass to Onion Valley Campground (7.9 miles one-way). Hitch down to Independence. No grocery anymore; just two fairly nicely stocked gas station minimarts and a Subway Sandwich shop. Send stuff to the PO there, buy locally, or take the local bus to Bishop - a full-service town. Reverse to the trail.

It is possible, but expensive ($100), to have the Onion Valley Pack Station hold a package for you, or for about $450, they'll pack it up to meet you at the Charlotte Lake/PCT junction.

I apologize if this info can already be found in the archives. My partner and I need a resupply point between Muir Trail Ranch and Mt. Whitney to avoid carrying 12 days of food. Has anyone done this, and where/how?

  Thanks for any help.
  Deb
