[pct-l] bargain shopping for PCT

hey everyone,
    What gear and essentials make sense to buy on clearance or at outlets to save money for a PCT thru-hike?  I'm thinking equipment like ice axes or trekking poles might make sense, since they don't really have to be too body-specific.  Any ideas or thoughts?  I'm not exactly rollin in the dough, so any money saved would be great. Gracias!
