FYI
Backpackinglight.com started a Wilderness Trekking School series last year and I went to the one in Oregon, with instructors Mike Clelland! and Andrew Skurka. Great course, phenomenal! They have a longer course this year that covers long-distance hiking skills:

WT2 - Long Distance/Thru-Hiking (14 days) - August 23-September 5, 2009

I can't say enough about the course. I learned so much about SUL backpacking and got my base weight for this year's PCT hike to 6-7 lbs (they even give a lesson on backcountry bidets). I understand it may be a little pricey for kids out of school, but these courses are WAY cheaper than a comparable NOLS course, or other private trekking adventure trips.

I'm not paid by or work for BPL- I'm just a very satisfied customer. Check out the site for registration and other info. Registration opens Feb. 1, 2009.
