[pct-l] Bounce box and STUFF

I suggest you order the shoes online and have them shipped to the same
place as your mail drops. I have used Zappos for many pairs of shoes and
have had no problems. I am sure there are many other online shoe stores.
They seem to have good size selection - you might even snag a good closeout
discount on that size!

Many hikers use the buy and ship ahead for places they don't expect to be
able to get the food they want. Check Yogi's Guide for what to expect in
trail towns. You should be able to buy batteries all along the trail - don't
pay to bounce them. Same for Chlorox, toothpaste, Deet.

You didn't say what fuel you use. Fuel supplies vary along the trail
depending on the type. Don't bounce it. See my website
(http://www.gottawalk.com/shipping_fuel.htm ) for how to ship fuel. Note
that fuel must go by ground and that adds delivery time.

Keep your bounce box small and don't bounce it to every PO you stop at. Also
remember you have to mail it ahead. You'' need a PO or a helpful Trail Angel
to do that. We pack our food boxes ahead of the trip and give them to our
son. Sometimes we have even put postage on the boxes. We tape a note with
the mailing date to each box and give him a spreadsheet with locations and
dates for shipping. You should be able to find a friend who will take them
to the post office.

You (probably) won't need the ice axe past Echo Lake - probably not past
Sonora Pass. I suggest shipping it to Kennedy Meadows and the shipping it
home when you no longer need it. Maybe the same with your 15 degree bag. You
may not even need the 15 degree bag.

Subject: [pct-l] Bounce box and STUFF

I'm trying to figure out the Bounce box and resupply issues. I have a list
of STUFF like fuel, extra batteries, extra pie pan wind screens,
toothpaste/shampoo, extra socks, underware, extra shirt & pants, Clorox,
nail clippers. Then I have things like, ice Ax, gloves, DEET, head net,
etc. maybe change sleeping bags from 30 degree to my 15 degree, maybe my
second pair of shoes, that I may need once I get to Kennedy Meadows?

The Food thing seems simple. I'll send the first two boxes before I
leave, then buy as I go and maybe send ahead. But sending ahead seems
redundant, when I can buy food there and just carry it?

I don't see "Bouncing" all this STUFF to every PO and I do not have a
resupply person.

Logistically what do you think?

BTW, regarding the second pair of shoes. I ware a 15W. I just can't get
them anywhere like little people ;-)

Thanks for your input.
