[pct-l] Ice axes on Amtrak

I carried on a ULA potty trowel strapped to my pack last year on Amtrak from San Jose, CA to Vancouver, WA. I duct-taped the sharp edges for safety and was not questioned.   
My hike ended at Stehekin and I used the same taping method on the ferry to Chelan and connecting buses to Seattle Amtrak and back to San Jose. Again no problems.
The only time that has ever been an issue for me was once at the Portland Greyhound station. They would,t let me carry my small pack on the bus, but it was okay stowed in the racks with all the suitcases.
