[pct-l] Cottonwood Creek Trail query

I am planning a PCT/JMT sobo hike with my llamas this summer, from 
Leavitt Meadow south to Trail Pass.  I would like to avoid driving my 
rig up to Horseshoe Meadow, so I am considering ending my hike by hiking 
out to the Cottonwood Trailhead (near 395) by taking the Last Chance 
Meadow trail and the Cottonwood Creek trail from Horseshoe Lake 
trailhead.  This would drop us down to about the 5000 foot level so my 
stock rig wouldn't have to climb and descend that big hill.
It looks like a great option on the Tom Harrison map but I wonder if the 
trail actually exists.  Does anyone have any experience hiking this trail?
