yeh again...another essential...one never knows when it will just start storming...which is what started this whole conversation I think....it's hit or miss...but I think I'd rather miss and have my essentials with me at all times...worth the extra weight to be safe and comfortable!

not quite. Going light doesn't mean going without and whoever thinks so is
not understanding the UL concept well.

just yesterday there was a discussion over at Backpackinglight.com about
another typical PCT issue, taking no rain gear for some of the length to
save weight... fine if it works, not so fine if it doesn't but anyway
definitely not in the name of the UL phylosophy.
