Subj: Re: [pct-l] Trail reports wanted
Do they want them? I've done a daily trail report from Mexico to Santiam
Pass, Pmailed to PCTA and people from the Communicator masthead, along with a
couple other names from As a Bat, in 07. Only one person, other than Brenda at
PCTA, has ever acknowledged my reports, or said they wanted them; that was
Suzanne Wilson, S CA Regional Rep, in 05. In 07 and 08, I emailed up to half a
dozen people from the masthead, before my hike, asking if they wanted them,
with no replies; one of the email addys wasn't even good. I think Brenda
forwards my reports, but still ...
I'm not looking for thanks, just a slight sign of interest; it's a way
of giving back, since I live nowhere near the PCT, or any long trail. I'll do
it again, this last PCT summer, but they'll be a lot less detailed than the
other three summers. If PCTA had a life membership, I'd buy one, but ...

Now that hikers are beginning early spring hikes on segments or sections
of the PCT, it is helpful to the trail volunteers/crew chiefs if you
post a trip report to this list. Tell us where you went and what trail
conditions you found that may need to be repaired, such as trees across
the trail or tread damage. This helps us know where to go to do work
before the thrus start their journeys. The more specific you can be
about location, the better. GPS locations are ideal.
If you prefer you can look up the section chiefs on the PCTA.org website
and communicate directly to them.
