To the suggestion of using an MLD "serenity" bug bivy instead of the
Adventure 16 bug bivy, Diane wrote:

Hi Diane. If I'm understanding you correctly, the A16 has to just be
suspended at one point (and draped over you elsewhere), whereas setting up
the MLD unit is a little more like setting up a tent, hence you're thinking
that the A16 is easier, faster to set up and take down after lunch or a nap
--- right?

What would you do to cover your legs when napping or eating? If cool
enough, the sleeping bag, but summer afternoons would make that unappealing,
plus that's more setup time to deploy and later repack the sleeping bag.
Maybe your bivy sack I guess? Or just a rain jacket or something.

To be clear, I'm not trying to talk you out of your choice, just trying to
understand the dynamics that make the A16 seem like the best option for
you. Indeed it might be, if you get a light bivy. Still heavier overall
but perhaps more flexible in the way you plan to use it, and the bivy might
leave you a little better protected. I like the additional room to move
around and "do stuff" in the MLD unit; there's not a lot of such room, mind
you, but enough to put some gear inside and move around without worry about
bugs getting in as a result.

I'd be interested in a report on how you like it after you've spent some
time with the combination you're talking about.
