[pct-l] what does 2 pounds mean

In town, a 1/2 pound burger topped with cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato and bacon probably weighs about a pound.
Add some fries ( 8 oz). That leaves a generous 8oz for a glass of beer.

I'm a draft beer kind of guy (A pint's a pound, the world around),
so I'd say a hiker should be eating approx 2.5 lbs at a meal.

(Beer does weigh more than water..so perhaps it is closer to three pounds)

This may not *quite* answer the question, but it does provide something to debate
while eating your approx 2.5 lbs or so of food at your next town stop.
