So true. What's exasperating is when someone asks me where I live and I  
answer, "Athena, Or e gun ?", and they respond, "Oh, so how do you like all  
the rain in Or E gone?" like they didn't even hear what I said. - Lost and

But be advised - get the pronunciation of 'Oregon' right. Something
like 'or-a-gun' or 'or-i-gun' works. Pronouncing 'Oregon' similar
to the way you say 'hexagon', with too much emphasis on the last
syllable, got me corrected on multiple occasions.
