Since the author nor anyone else has spoken up, as promised, I'll copy it here:

A toast to the hikers!
A toast to the starts!
A toast to the mountains
And to energy bars!

Raise a cup to trail angels,
To peaks high and wide
Raise a cup to the glory
Of a very strong stride!

Think not of the blisters,
The heat or the fear,
Instead Hike On to a
Glorious New Year!

Resolve to cut weight
Resolve to hike far
Sooner or later
You'll be back up to par!

So on to the New Year!
To 2008!
Get up off the couch now,
Before it's too late.

May your New Year be happy
May your freedom be found
May each hike be a blessed one
On Earth's hallowed ground.
