im planning on taking a b-packing trip in the olympic national park. im a little confused, ive never used a bear can. and some of the campsites dont have a bear cable and some do, bear cans can be rented for a donation to the park , but, i dont know what im getting, and ive tryed pricing them and there exspensive. i will have three people for 7 to 8 days, i dont thimk all my food will fit in i canister, also i dont like the idea of having to carry 75 to 100 feet of rope, to hang food at the campsites that dont have bear wire, i really dont know how the bear can works. is the cable in the air or is it staked to the ground? also, each can i looked at were around or over 3 lbs. and what do i do if i need more than 1?
