Meadow Ed here.
My 3 Grand Canyon hiking buddies are setting off to day to do the High Sierra Route. In order to do this and end up back on the east side when they are finished they are hiking from Onion Valley today all the way to the west side to start their hike back.
This will add an xtra day to the hike for getting to the trail head but at least their cars will be on 395.--- On Sat, 8/1/09, Keith Robertson <surferkeith at sbcglobal.net> wrote:

Mikey,
Listen to Jeffrey. You should consider starting and finishing your hike on either the east front or west front of the Sierra. Trying to find a way from one front to the other by road is a significant logistical challenge.
