Kirk,

It depends a lot on what you mean by "light". Even the PCT
"heavywieghts" are considered light weight packers by most of the
rest of the world. So the first thing is to ask you'rself, like Steel
said, is to decide how much you want to carry, and then make your
decision based on that.

That being said, if you are a PCT heavy-weight, you may consider that
Big Anges SL1. I used it when I hiked (and will be again this
winter.) Packed weight with the carbon fiber poles is just under 3
lbs, the 2nd lightest (at least I think) free-standing double wall
tent. I know a good nights sleep is key to having a good hike for me,
so I splurge a lot of weight in this area. Its probably one of the
heaviest tents out there from what I've heard.

But, figure out what you want to carry weight wise, and what you can
deal with, and still have a good time, and then pick something based
on those two factors. You'll be able to get more useful feedback if
you give us these bits of information I believe, people's answers
will be more tailored to your needs.

And as side note, Just plan for a hike. Don't give yourself a
choice... tell the boss... tell the landlord, and force yourself out
there. Its a lot easier that way!

Good luck, and God Bless,

Alden
