Walk off a cliff while talking on your cell phone, you're banished as an 
idiot.

HYOH. If carrying a device eases your insecurities, perceived or otherwise, 
then carry it for a more enjoyable hike. If not, then don't.

Let's argue the merits of the color red over blue.
