[pct-l] Cali backpacking in December-Need suggestions

Hi -
I have done the lost coast (60 miles) from the mattole river to black sands
beach a few times and it is one of the best. One thing i didn't fully
expect was the muddiness of the water b/c of rain....lots of rain--- can be
tough on a filter. In my opinion the logistics are difficult for a one
week trip -- unless you have someone willing to drive you around.
-- I am not sure if dogs are allowed in Sinkyone Wilderness (southern half
of trail) --perhaps on a leash.
I have hiked a bunch in Ventana also and my favorite one week trip was a one
way hike from Hwy 101 (Jolon Road - i think) to Big Sur Station. The trails
were overgrown and difficult at times - but well worth it -- most of the
trip is in areas of ventana that people don't visit...plus hot springs.
You can't go wrong with either of these, but it may be wet and cold -- no
snow though!
cheers!
