I use a Buzzoff baseball cap with an attached flap that protects the neck and ears.  The flap has a button closure that allows the flaps to be buttoned under my chin when windy or cold.  It would take a hurricane to rip it off my head.  In our recent hike from Walker Pass in Santa Ana wind conditions, the hat stayed firmly planted.  I can fold the flaps under the cap when it is warm or when I don't need sun protection.
