[pct-l] Water report: Golden Oak Spring

    May 4 I filled up my water bottles at Golden Oak Spring, mile 583.4, 
map F4.   The white pipe was a slow drip and the water trough had 2 dead 
frogs floating.  The spring flow down the bank above the trough was more 
mud than water.  I used my 6" straw to divert a trickle into my bottle.  
The pool of water my straw tapped was the size of a silver dollar.  
Three hikers came along and my straw saved their bacon.  Be sure to pack 
a straw.  The so called year round springs could be dried up this year.
