Whenever I do my long hikes, I'm invariably asked "What did you eat?".

When I did the Colorado Trail, I kept track of what I ate in 21 days. It was short enough where I could keep track.

Here's the wonderful diet I used. Pretty typical of my other (longer) hikes:

On this wonderful diet, I averaged ~23 MPD. :)

YMMV. I don't claim it works for everyone, but it worked for me.
