Scott and Joe took off at 12:45 with Reinholt tagging along for the first 20 miles. Wind steady 20 mph and 85 degrees. Scott had maggot white legs owing to his working until the last minute. He is worried about making the first week. I think his legs will loosen up after the first day.

Here's something I hadn't seen before.... both Joe and Scott cut out their tongues. I think I'll call Williamson "Silent Scott". Both had umbrellas. Joe leaves his at KM and picks one up again at Old Station. Joe says the plan is for both of them to hike together. They were carrying 3 days food supply and expected to make it to WS. Joe said his base weight was around 6 #.

Halfmile and Capt Bivy were the first to show up. Reinholt and wife, Karen, brought Joe at 11:30. Saint ???(don't remember) and Admiral (who live in Poway) were next. Scott's father brought Scott around 12:20. Halfmile hoped to be able to blackberry a photo to postholer. WS Monty joined us via phone.
