The PCT is now CLOSED at the Quincy-LaPorte Road north to hwy 36 west
of Chester, CA. This makes for a total closure of 100 miles of PCT on the
Plumas and Lassen National Forests.
Hikers can utilize a Plumas County Transit Bus to get from Quincy, CA
to Chester, CA. The bus picks up at the Plumas Pines Safeway in Quincy, CA
at 8:15am, 1:25pm, and 5:15pm and will get to Chester, CA in less than two
hours for $3. Yes, three dollars.
Quincy is 20 miles east of the PCT crossing at the Quincy-LaPorte Road
while Chester is 8 miles east of the PCT crossing at highway 36.

The above is a quote from the Pacific Crest Trail Association website,
http://www.pcta.org/planning/during_trip/Trail_con_CC.asp?sect=M . My
husband says that Quincy is only 15 miles from Quincy-LaPorte road.

I have not opened the cache at highway 36 yet since likelihood of having
hikers about is nil.
