Senator, The following is from the PCTA website. Hope this helps.
Section M - July 2, 2008
The PCT is CLOSED on the Plumas National Forest from the southern
boundary of the Bucks Lake Wilderness to Hwy 70 at Belden due to
wildfires in the area. Please plan accordingly as there are numerous
fires in this area. Fire information with map of fire area and
closures: internet www.fs.fed.us/r5/plumas ; phone (530) 283-7882,
7883, or 7884 (hours 6am to 10pm) PCT is closed on the Lassen NF from
Belden to Hwy 36 west of Chester, CA.
For Plumas Tranist information and schedule for transportation from
Quincy to Chester or Portola to Quincy to Chester www.plumastransit.com.
Section N - July 2, 2008
PCT has been closed due to fire in the Lassen Forest from Highway 70
to Highway 36. Check back for further information. Should you need
immediate information call Alamnor Ranger District, Chester
530-258-2141 With the closure of the Plumas National Forest hikers are
advised to contact www.plumastransit for bus schedules for Quincy to
Chester.
