You are absolutely correct Marion. I almost mentioned burns, but was starting to feel like I was "spreading out" too much info. I still wouldn't put anything sticky (tape, Tegaderm, etc) on a burn or blister, but a small piece of guaze over the wound or antibiotic ointment, then gauze, then Tegaderm would be perfect. I believe the Tegaderm is gas permeable, so it keeps the dirt, etc out, while allowing air in to help heal. Any covering that is directly on the wound (gauze, tissue, TP, etc) should be SOAKED off, with clean water or saline to help remove it, when it dries to the wound site. Pulling it off dry will do more damage to the area and may also pull off any tissue that has started to heal.

No charge for the medical advice.....;-)

for second degree burns. I was in bed recovering from surgery and got a
scald burn on my chest when someone brought me a mug of hot tea and I
spilled it on myself--resulting in a huge blister that opened right up.
The surgeon gave me a big tegaderm patch to cover it, and it healed
beautifully with no scar. Since we fiddle with stoves and hot water in
the backcountry, burns can be a fairly common injury, and a second
degree burn is a big infection risk.
