[pct-l] Gossamer Gear packs anyone?

Yes, I have experience to the contrary. I carried a G4 down the JMT and
on the HST, including one phase involving a ten-day resupply. No seams
failed, and while the load transfer to waist was less than desireable, it
was quite tolerable. At 3/4 a pound of basic pack weight, it's very
difficult to consider other options for the minimal comfort gains over a
short period (i.e., until the load weight diminished after a few meals).

Yes, the mesh can tear in a brushy environment. Yes, the silnylon can
become abrated if you're not careful about how you handle it. Still,
customer service has been nothing less than spectacular.

I have carried a bear can and more for food, it all fit. I tend to carry
too much clothing, and it all fit. I'd like a bigger, more padded hip
belt, I'd like some tie-outs, and I'd like a stiffer backframe, but I like
even more the minimal weight.

This pack isn't intended for expeditions, but that's not what you're
talking about. You can find a better organized pack, the three mesh
pockets and one big bag are a bit limiting, but how many things are you
carrying anyway? It is a lightweight, comfortable and convenient means of
carrying gear for light to moderate trips.
