[pct-l] Mylar vs Tyvek Umbrella Cover

Just go to the local sporting goods store and get an emergency mylar reflective cover. It is in the medical section of the camping area. Cut a round circle a little larger than the umbrella and attach with Velcro tape. Use SeamSeal for extra glue holding power. If the umbrella has a pole sticking out at the top, just cut a small hole in the mylar for that.

The problem is the mylar will tear as it gets hit by branches along the trail. You could use a SpaceBlanket cover, but that is a lot heavier. It is much more durable too.

Cheers, Switchback
