Well... 500ml is as near as damit two cups (or 16 fl oz)....

You could try embossing a line with the aid of a blunt nail & small hammer. 
Googling for "repousse" will turn up some hints & tips for embossing - I'd 
suggest a little practice session before trying it on a Ti mug.
