[pct-l] How flat is So Cal?

SoCal is not flat, if that were true than that would be the first 700
miles, and there are certainly many ups and downs in those first many
miles. I don't remember anything particularly difficult, but there are
steep climbs and rugged spots.
I don't use poles and I have a pretty bad knee. I simply can't look
up and enjoy the senery with them and thats the big reason I hike.
