I took measurements with a GPS and verified it with a wheel and found  
no appreciable difference

I talking ±0.02 miles over 9-10 miles

I checked this over and over. I'll trust the GPS mileages

I've collected GPS data for the trail from Campo to Cottonwood Pass  
and Sonora Pass to I-80
