For our 2008 hike we joined the American Alpine Club which offers emergency rescue at a minimal cost.  https://americanalpineclub.org

As far as other injuries along the way, we were able to get to a clinic near Agua Dulce in Santa Clarita when Zelda had her glissading injury off Baden Powel and it was comparably better than our health care at home.  The doctors were very professional and the price of the office call was pretty reasonable.
