For what ever reason I was distracted when I wrote the piece so please allow me a few explanatory comments. Referring people elsewhere for additional information is very much a positive. I've always believe knowledge is power. The point I was making is that I'd hate to see it get down to someone checking out FAQ, go the the various sites and we'd never "see" them again. I believe in this List. I believe in what it can offer any type of hiker, any age, any (dis)abilities, those with all your marbles and those of us lacking in that area. I would find it very sad if we became a referral service instead of welcoming new "members" right onto the List, asking any question any time. If you are bored with answering the FAQ, don't respond. There are enough listers to answer virtually any/all questions.

are we there yet (here in very, very dry true no.ca.)

I think there are many "new" hikers who never know anything about the
PCT-L. Having a better way to introduce folks to the whole idea of
hiking the PCT will not scare them away. Some may not choose to
participate with the PCT-L, but I bet the list can in fact be
more focused on items that most of us find interesting. Maybe we
can even get Switchback to write more jokes.

Also, I nominate SteelEye to be moderator on the new FAQ.
