Hey Bill,
Electronically, you have basically 2 ways of transcribing journal entrys:
+ EMail (such as Pocketmail or email enabled device)
+ Mobile Internet Access (a 'smartphone' device)
I urge you to view 'Gadget's Gadget Guide' for an excellent smartphone
guide:

Gadget has maintained his 2008 journal entirely through his mobile internet
device, via 'Postholer Mobile':
Gadget's journal is: http://postholer.com/brianle
Postholer Mobile is: http://postholer.com/mobi
Pocketmail allows you to transcibe emails, then send them at a later date
over a regular telephone. If you keep a journal at postholer.com you can
email your entrys straight into your journal, no human transcriber required.
Any other service like blogger or TJ's will require someone to post your
emails to your journal.
An internet enabled smartphone gives you many more options having the entire
internet at your disposal. Yes, cell reception is spotty, but far more
frequent than a telephone. If you'll be carrying a cell phone you can
possibly consolidate your pocketmail/cell phone into a smart phone.
To further shamelessly plug postholer.com, you can update your journal, get
7 day text weather forecast all along the trail and search/read other
journals for valuable info from postholer mobile. Of course you have access
to the non-mobile site as well being you have full internet access. This
means you can access postholer maps, which is a great use for getting around
in those town stops (don't use for trail navigation , though).
Hope that helps,
-postholer
