[pct-l] Scott & Joe controversy

LORD!!!!.....I'm loosing my hair over this.
Why do some people have such a hard time understanding this?

If you hike the PCT just to hike it, hike it any way you want to.
Take the easy route, go around the mountain instead of over the mountain.
Take alternate routes, go the round about way or take the Hwy.
It's your hike, you can hike it any way you want.

But, if you are trying to set a record for a particular trail you should
follow that trail.
An asterisk would be more warranted had they taken alternate trails or
easier round about trails.
What better conformity than everybody following the actual PCT route can
you ask for?
That is exactly what Scott & Joe did, follow the PCT.

Come on guys, this is not Rocket Science, try to understand this.
