Yes! On my hike in Section N this year I arrived at my pickup point half
a day early. It turns out my wife was sitting at a picnic area just a
couple miles up the road, but cell phones didn't work. The ham radio
repeater in Chester worked almost everywhere on my 50 mile hike, and
would have been perfect IF my wife had a ham license. She does now, and
we will use it next year to coordinate shuttles.
