Mike Akin stopped by yesterday with 4 of the 8 German back packers. The 8
and a German Priest are hiking the PCT south bound without maps, cooking
over bon fires, did no prep as to following the trail, etc. They already got
lost heading south on the trail and came out at Darrington, Wa. They don't
know where they are resupplying and don't have a real good understanding of
English. All you north bounders need to keep an eye out for them and maybe
help them out with maps of the trail and advice about bear cans and fires.
You will know they by their traditional Bavarian hiking outfits. Great
group......but as a MOM I am really concerned over their lack of
preparedness.
