I just got off the phone with Mary Barcik. She is not on our email lists, does not own a computer, but knows a few of us. A few more of us will know her before the Spring is over.

Mary Barcik is the 70+ year old woman who supplies the remote Kelso Valley Road and Bird Springs Road water caches for some years now. Check mile 616 and 631 at this Water Report URL. http://4jeffrey.net/pct/e.htm Check your stats to see alternate water sources. Very appreciated caches. She usually uses a truck, but sometimes when roads are bad, uses a dirt bike.

She has over 75 gallons at each cache for us hikers right now and will maintain the caches throughout the season.

She does have a concern about the $4 gallons of gas it takes to replenish the caches. I think (I know) she would like help. A water run can take up to 100 mile when she uses store-bought water.

Here's her address.

Mary and William Barcik

5400 S Kelso Valley Road

Weldon, CA 93283

I'd be curious to know how much help she gets.

She also appreciates help unloading the truck and stocking the caches if you are hiking through at the thim she's there.

Thanks

Monty
