first about the cost of a bounce bucket--would it be cheaper to bounce a
flat rate box P.O.
to P.O. rather than a bulky 5gal bucket?

Answer: I had seen some really heavy bounce buckets. This had to cost a
lot. Some folks had medicine, memory hard drives, extra gear.
I love the Flat Rate Boxes. I used them for most of my re-supplies and on
occasion to bounce forward. The added bonus is that if you don't open the
box, you can bounce forward again or send home at no extra charge. I always
send using Priority Mail. I only costs a very little more and is much
quicker.

Second, I am planning on
sending my ice axe to Kennedy Meadows, and just wanted to see if this
was a good idea. If anyone has any advice or a better method to pick
up the axe halfway, I would be glad to hear it. I just don't know if
the gen store gets all kinds of giant odd shaped boxes stacked up over
the season, and perhaps should pick an earlier local to retrieve it.
Cheers,
Jordan

Answer: The kind folks at KM Store will have no problem with you sending
your ice axe their. I believe they charge a flat rate of $2 for each
package.
Mailing tip. Paint your boxes or package with some awful color combination.
At peak times finding your package will be quicker if it stand out. Also
make sure you are sending to the right KM address.
I always put a Giant "G" on all sides of my boxes (my last name begins with
a g)
