You are so right, but for us experienced pct'ers the 4oz map book is really cool.
In 2005 Scissors Crossing water cache was dry when I came through.

I like it, except for one thing. He includes the water caches as water
sources. I guess if you are expecting to use the caches as a primary
water source, that is OK. But if they really are only for use in
emergencies, then they shouldn't be listed as water sources. Noted in
the text, perhaps, but not treated in the same manner as streams,
springs, faucets at campgrounds, etc.
