OK, I'm the new guy here so maybe I shouldn't say anything, however I'd
like to share some experience. Most sailors dislike powerboaters and
vica versa. That being said, no one group has less or more fun on that
ocean because they are a member of one particular group. The thing is,
its a big ocean out there with room for everybody. Even PWCs. The same
holds true IMHO in the wilderness including the PCT or any 'T' for that
matter. There's even room for ATVs so long as they keep away from me!
Lets explore our similarities instead of our differances. It makes it
easier to get along!

I got my books from Yogi today and am already half way through the
Handbook and have a couple of questions. Given that I'm no spring
chicken anymore, I'm a fairly slow hiker. What I'd like to know is how
much water does one usually carry when the next known source is say 20
miles away. This may or may not be more than a days hike for me. I
won't know till I get there! I can do 15 easy here, but this is not the
desert. (Yes I've hiked and lived in the desert but I've always planned
my hikes around pleanty of water. I've never measured my intake.)
Secondly, I see where there is a gathering in April near Campo. Is it
worth the trip from northwest WA? Would probably take the train (Coast
Starlate) as its cheaper than flying and more comfortable than the Dog
Bus. Thanks

Beyond this point
There be dragons...
