Regarding "posers" and "Unless you are going to make a long distance hike...":

See <http://mailman.hack.net/mailman/listinfo/pct-l> ...
"This list is for discussion of all things related to the PCT, planning for thru-hikes or section-hikes, trail-threats, trail maintenance, horse riding, llama packing, anything having to do with the PCT."

Put emphasis on "anything having to do with the PCT."

So ALL of us have a RIGHT to be here as long as we abide by the 'rules'...

BTW, for clarification and since you must automatically assume I'm a "poser" and "have no clue", just what is your definition of a "'true' hiker"? How many miles does it take for it to be a "long distance"? Clue me in, please...
Otherwise, build your own site and pound on your chest what a great 'true' hiker you are... day hikers, section hikers, wannabe thrus, trail angels, etc. need not apply...

Happy trails!!!
Jim
