[pct-l] Wrong book update and Giardia

I emailed Yogi who graciously offered to exchange the books.  I was the 
one at fault as I hit the wrong button on the order screen.  Oh well.  
Now the problem is I started reading them and decided to keep them!  
Great reading and I just might learn something after all.  I'll be 
reordering the PCT books within the next few minutes.

On the Giardia subject: I'm having the same discussion with my brother 
who is an RN and wilderness medicine guru.  I have never filtered water 
and only used iodine a few times with suspect water.  I even drank the 
ground water in Korea!  Never had any symptoms from the water.  Mountain 
House is a different story.  I always have the squirts shortly after my 
first commercial freeze dried entree and while I'm still using water 
from home.

My theroy is that the filter or iodine will kill most of the Giardia and 
all of it natural predator.  Those Giardia that survive will become 
stronger and more resistant.  Same with a filter.  2 microns will filter 
out MOST of the Giardia and ALL of its predator.  I came to this 
assumption from my horticulture background, having witnessed the effects 
of various manmade controls on all sorts of pests and their natural 
predators.
