I agree with Jerry. I wear Patagonia silkweight polypro on all my hikes. One tip is to add extra soap and time when you launder them. I keep getting the comment "You look to clean to be a thru-hiker" and I don't notice that the shirts smell. I wore another synthetic fiber shirt on the AT that I couldn't stand the smell of. It smelled like motor oil even when it was clean.

They still make it. I've got one on right now. I've not had much stink problems with mine, though. I've been using them on every trip for the last 10 years or so.
As far as natural fabrics being stink free, you've obviously never smelled a sheep....... ;o)

Patagonia used to make stuff called SILK weight underwear...they were made of poly but felt like silk....I have an original shirt of this material and it has worn like iron and is a great shirt but it stinks! :)

Wow- that surprises me Lawrance. I thought all natural fabrics were "stink free". Are your shirts maybe a blend? Maybe has some nylon in the fabric or something. Then I could understand.......at any rate, I'll check out the Patagonia site.....didn't know they made silk long johns. I'm mostly concerned with warmth as I get cold really easy and my heavy duty Patagonia kept me so toasty. Thx.
