Hey Guys!
Thanks a bunch for replying to me....wow, what a warm and friendly
welcome!!! =-)

Steel Eye-- heh is Hiker Trash anything like Scooter Trash? ;-) hehe
Yes I'd heard of the get together, but unfortunately my best friend is
having surgery in the am and I promised I'd be there for her this
weekend. Since I made that committment earlier, I think it would be most
rude for me to ditch her in her time of need. Her family will be gone
this weekend out of absolute necessity. However, I will be with you all
in spirit. Too, Seattle is a fair distance from me in reality- I'm a
whole lot closer to White Pass on the PCT than I am Seattle.

JoAnn, Well if you are where I will be at the same time, I'd be MORE
than happy to have ya along for the trip! Oh, I do understand what you
mean about knees...I didn't mention that back in 1990 I had my left leg
completely rebuilt-- they call it a proximal/distal knee relocation-
very involved- but hey I don't let *nothin* stop me from doing what I
want to do. It had a 3% chance of success back then- I beat the odds. ;)
So come on along we will be Gimps together..hehehehe....I say that with
all love and a huge smile on my face, as I have one demented(?) sense
of humor.

Marcia, Thanks for the welcome and I got that cute lil quote from a
wonderful friend. And oh yes, the lightweight gear thing is what has me
back up on my feet and ITCHING to go hiking again. If it weren't for the
fact that I don't have ANY-- well hardly any gear yet, and I'm
definitely NOT in shape for hiking, I'd be out there this summer, but as
it stands, it will be next year, as I want to be really really ready for
this trip.

Beth, thank you also for your warm welcome here. Wow! It sounds like you
have indeed had your challenges in finishing! Keep up the good work
though and you WILL get there, I promise. One step at a time, does the
hike make. ;-)

Sabina,
Well, I'm not sure just how slow I will end up being, to be honest.
Thank you for the welcome to the list. I will find out just how slow--
or halfast (hehe) I really am, when spring and summer arrive and I hit
the trails for practice with my new gear. I'm sure that we would have
to meet at a predetermined place, but I would be happy to have a
friend=-= even a newly made one, to hike with. Even a small group of us
gals would be fun. I plan on starting at about Mt Etna-- I can be
somewhat flexible of course, but on or about July 15, mostly because my
hubby wants to celebrate our anniversary before I go-- July 11, and I
wont be home for my b'day, Sept 25, most likely. That was his only
request, if I plan on taking off (as he puts it) for the summer, without
him.

Well, I hope I didn't miss anyone here, but if I did, my sincerest
apologies. I was out a couple of days and come back to find my mailbox
inundated..hehee. Tis all good in the end.

And yes, my BWCA days were wonderful. I got to go as part of the
YWCA/YMCA camp I went to every summer- my parents thought they were
ditching us at a summer camp for the summer- little did they realize the
kids had FAR more fun than the parents did!!! *snicker* We would spend
from 2 weeks to a month canoeing into the BWCA, primitive camping with
old Army gear- oh I remember those days!! But hey, we all got a huge
kick out of it, and we had a great time. We could carry 40 lbs each AND
portage a canoe too- boy we came away from that camp with *muscles*!!
hehehe All that on top of canoeing some 12 hours a day at times.
Amazing, but I enjoyed every second of it. Oh yeah, the bug bit me
really early in life, and it's never left.
Unfortunately my husband has no interest whatsoever, so any trips I
make will be with an outside partner or solo. Either way is just fine
with me, but having a partner would be fun, for at least part of the
trip. Feel free to email me privately if you want.. I don't
bite...hard....*just kidding*

Have a great weekend and wish I could be there at the "party". I'll be
there in spirit.

Bye for now!!

Ronnie Jo
