i generally don't get involved in this debate, but i just have to say 
that i agree 100% with this... it's NOT that big of a deal folks, just 
take the bear can... having the can resulted in an overall negligible 
effect on the quality of my hike, even without the peace-of-mind factor 
being taken into account...

my 2 cents, anyway...
