well, the trail along the crater lake rim is, in my opinion, the most 
scenic spot on the entire pct, so that's a good bet. it's also close to 
roads and other amenities, so if they have trouble it's an easy 
bail-out. also, just past crater lake there's many miles very easy flat 
or gently-graded terrain.
